I read through the ingredients and on every option, I thought YES, that is the most important. But after giving it some thought I would state that option number four is the most important ingredient to sustainability transition. I really do think that the biggest problem or thing that is slowing down our sustainability journey, is that people don’t see the big picture or understand the importance of sustainability and a thriving nature. So, if we could repair the relationship between nature and people, people would respect it and want to find ways to protect it. They would be open to circular economy, to new technologies and wanting to educate themselves and others to preserve our beautiful and important nature. This was actually a really good question and helps me to concentrate on what I want to put my energy on, because sometimes the whole sustainability matter and green transition seems too big to handle.
If I am completely honest with you, I think it takes a huge crisis to change the course we are on. The Covid-19 pandemic is a good example on how the whole world can work together and make changes fast to save everybody’s lives. So, an enormous change is totally possible to make. I just don´t think the world is yet enough on fire. I really wish I am wrong, and I will absolutely keep on working and help the world taking the steps toward a better future, but I do think that we would need a humongous wake up call.
We talk about that the changes need to be done on a systemic level and that the individual’s role is small but let us remember that when we talk about businesses, there are humans and individuals who are making the decisions and choices. When we talk about government and legislation, there are again humans and individuals making the decisions and choices. The world is full of humans and individuals who needs to fall in love with nature again and work together for a better future. The power we have is unbelievable, so let´s do this!
