Equality, health and peace

These three are the key factors when I think about a more sustainable future - for everyone.

Equality between men and women is not currently happening in many places. When we think about equality between different cultures, between people with different color or the background, I think we still have long way to go - each and every one of us. Us who have scored "better" than others with these sustainability goals can take a long look into the mirror and think if there is something else we can do. Rest of the world is only watching the horrors happening in countries like Palestine and accepting these horrible actions that are taken. So I'm thinking, can we really say that we're performing better, when people seem to have different value depending on where they're from in our eyes as well? I don't think so.

Health is a luxury not all of us can afford. That is a cold fact and depends a lot on where person happens to be born. For example in Finland, we have very good health care system and it is available for all, rich or poor. When we travel further south, situation is no longer the same. Good quality in health care needs more than one SDG to be reached, and it would have a massive effect on the quality of lives.

One thing standing in the way of these targets, is war - or wars. The way we're currently handling the conflicts happening in the world is far from sustainable. Unfortunately in these conflicts, it seems to be the most innocent ones who suffer. If we focused more on keeping the peace and taking care of each other instead of looking for things that we can disagree and fight about, I'm sure the world would be a much better place.

I just read that the Olympics this year has as many women athletes as men, YES! Some things are going the right way.
I honestly thought some years ago that black (or non-white) people in developed countries such as America already had an excellent situation and we had come a long way in equality between people with different skin colors. But the police violence and deaths of black people proved me wrong. We have taken steps to the right direction, but we really need to constantly work on both women`s rights and putting an end to racism. For me it is really hard to understand why people are considered as less worthy because of their skin color or gender. Just seems really stupid to be honest.

Wars seems almost too big and complex and horrible to think about.. Especially now, when the wars seem to be soldiers attacking and killing and hurting civilians. I can´t imagine what it would take to be able to stop people from fighting.

Health is absolutely a luxury that few of us appreciate before you lose it. Finland´s healthcare is going the wrong way in an increasing pace. I hope the next government reacts and improves the working conditions of our medical staff.

Very good point on health care! It's so easy to take free and high-quality health care for granted in Finland because we're used to it, but I think there should be more political will to ensure it doesn't deteriorate any further than it unfortunately already has (long queuing times for example).

I agree with with you on how the current conflicts in the world are far from sustainable and are such a waste of resources that could be used elsewhere to promote sustainability. All of the issues that we face with climate crisis and biodiversity loss are due to us humans, but waging war is the stupidest thing of all!
And also equality and health are important elements of sustainability to point out, that we can easily forget. Since we have access to health care and live in a relatively equal society.
