Humans are part of nature and part of nature's cycle. Every natural creature, weevil, wasp, fly, etc., has its own place in the cycle of nature and every part is needed. People need to understand the processes of nature in order to be able to protect it. Education is an essential part here, so that the understanding of the connection between nature and man increases. People who live close to nature, get their living from nature, can more easily think about the best of nature. People living in cities may become isolated from nature when they do not have direct contact with nature. Self-reliance thinking is fortunately becoming more popular, and small-scale farming can also be practiced in cities on balconies, yards, etc., which brings elements of nature into the city as well.
Natural resources are valuable, they provide recreational services, sunlight, carbon dioxide, water and many other natural materials, among other things. Many natural resources we don't think of as valuable until they become scarce, such as water. We need water to survive. Lack of water leads to suffering for people, animals and nature. Sunlight, is another condition of life that, together with water, makes everything grow. However, humans have used too many natural resources and caused the accelerated progress of climate change. Natural disasters have increased, drought, heat, storms and rains. Nature and natural forces should be respected and understood that we are part of nature, and we are not above nature. However, with the help of technology, we have been able to harness the forces of nature for the benefit of humans, such as wind and solar and hydropower, wave energy.
The world's overconsumption day has been getting earlier all the time, and for Finland, we are even earlier. Consumption is one big part that people should think about, it consumes the earth's natural resources quickly. People should think about their own spending habits and spend as little as possible. The production of the products we buy consumes natural resources and releases emissions into the air, their packaging increases the amount of garbage, and the disposal of products and packaging increases emissions again. Many companies market their operations as ecological and carbon neutral, but always just want to increase their sales. Companies should also plan their operations taking more into account the surrounding nature and make it a normal way of operating. Every person can save natural resources and energy by using discretion, recycling, using up and doing it yourself. By increasing respect for nature, itself and its gifts, we have the opportunity to further slowdown the progress of climate change.
