Corruption, education and overall wellbeing and safety

I wanted to highlight three reasons for the challenges and the conditions for social and economic development. Corruption, education and overall wellbeing and safety.

If a person is not sure if they will live to see tomorrow, they will probably not be able to develop or grow as a person or be interested in how one can contribute to the society. That is why the community should be safe and provide healthcare for those who need it. This brings trust in the future and plans for tomorrow or even the next few years.

The other key element to social and economic development is education and the lack of education the key challenge. People need literacy skills to be able to contribute on developing the society and the economics. A person that understands the “bigger picture" is also more likely to understand how they can be a part of the solution and a working society. So, education is much more than just literacy skills. It widens the perception and gives tools on how to develop as a person but also the society and economics.

And if we want entrepreneurship and new businesses, we need to assure that the government or other leaders aren´t corrupted or a part of the “boys club”, where people aren´t treated equal and dishonesty takes away all interest in developing the economics. If all the money goes into the already rich peoples’ pockets, you won’t see any development in neither social nor economic situation. Or if you must bribe someone with money you don´t have to be able to develop your business, that will also not inspire you to develop anything. And the "boys club" where only specific people or groups of people are welcomed to decision making or developing the society is a blast from the past and should not be a norm of any society anymore.

One source that I picked out the three highlighted reasons from, was the publication of Cambridge University press, written by Adam Szirmai. 9781107045958_frontmatter.pdf (cambridge.org)Avaa tämä dokumentti ReadSpeaker docReaderillä and off course also from the material that is provided on this course.

Vs: Corruption, education and overall wellbeing and safety

A person needs a sense of security to develop and grow, otherwise he only thinks about his survival. Health care in Finland is good, but there are many countries where people's health care depends on money or on its availability in general. The situation of countries in a war is also difficult. Education is really another important thing, which is also dependent on money in many countries, and poor families may not be able to afford to send their children to school or they need them at home. With grants and the changing world, I hope that children can go to school all over the world.
Corruption is certainly a way of the country in many countries, which is difficult to eradicate. It is a huge injustice towards people and sustainable development.

Corruption occurs in all areas of society and is global. The challenges it brings are obvious and known, but it is difficult to eradicate it. Unfortunately, people are too attracted to bribery and the quick income it brings. The government's transparency should be improved so that it would be possible to vote out corrupt politicians either by the actions of citizens or by decision-makers who have zero tolerance for corruption.

By investing in their schools, countries will save themselves from many negative effects of their lack in the future. A good school result can prevent young people from drifting into criminality.

Very good points Mia! Having the safe environment definitely plays a big part in persons motivation to make certain decisions, such related to education for example. It also effects on if there are even possibilities to do so.
