Topic outline

  • This 10 credits course is part of the Global sustainability module, and this course is available for those students chosen for the student challenge trips.

Before the trip, the students are required to pass two preliminary courses, Introduction to cross-cultural communication (2 credits) ( https://learn.hamk.fi/course/view.php?id=15266 ) and Sustainability and global economy (3 credits) ( https://learn.hamk.fi/course/view.php?id=15267 ). Please note that also the previous versions of these courses (5 credits respectively) are valid as a requirement.

The applications will be sent through this moodle, see the next tab.  The deadline for applying for autumn 2024 challenges is May 31st. The preliminary choices will be announced to the chosen students on Monday June 3. All applicants should be prepared for the face to face meeting, preliminary information and group activities in Hämeenlinna, Visamäki campus room Tyyne S-401 on Wednesday June 5, 9.30-12. Please note that the preliminary choice is pending until face-to-face meeting, as we have experience that students who can't make it for the face-to-face meeting, usually don't keep up with other activities either.

    For more information, see https://www.hamk.fi/en/student-pages/planning-your-studies/optional-studies/global-sustainability/

To gain the credits, students are required to attend the 14 day student challenge (continuous evaluation by the mentors and peer evaluation), participate in the challenge tasks in the field (collecting information and materials, analysis, presentation etc) and submit a final personal task such as a learning diary or article (To be defined in detail, see last tab)
